Picking The Perfect Lighting To Rock Your Home

Forget White Light – Add Some Color!

In todays market, there are many alternatives to the traditional white standard light bulb. Light bulbs now exist with light-emitting diodes to create these sophisticated Multi-Color LED that can transition through dozens of color and rightness combinations. The best thing is that they are compatible with a standard lightbulb socket. Most include a remote, so the user can program an individual color or brightness level, or choose various fades and transition effects. This will help really set the mood in your place! Works great for decorating, parties or any times that special lighting is needed. Try spicing up the home with a splash of color, LED lighting works the best.

Pick The Right Place For Your Lights

It’s no secret that lighting is one of the major elements in helping make the house a home. The proper lighting enables you to perform tasks properly, making you feel safer and more comfortable, while allowing enjoyment of the home to its full potential. However, each specific room and location in the house has particular (and unique)  lighting needs. If you are uncertain about what type of lighting to put where, or you’re just looking for inspiration, let me offer you some tips.

Foyer Area

Since not all foyers accommodate large bulky chandeliers, be sure the proportions are correct. So if you have a larger space, you’ll need a larger light. The foyer conveys the first impression of the home, so its important to make the right decision here. We want to provide basic illumination and create a welcoming atmosphere!

Living Room Area

To boost this room’s ambiance, bring out textures, and provide general illumination there are a variety of different types of lighting fixtures will work for both your general lighting and accent lighting purposes. Try to use recessed lighting to light a common space as light source is concealed. Ceiling Fixtures that are close to the roof and sconces  are also excellent choices and provide ample lighting, working not only decorative pieces, but are ideal sources of task lighting for reading or playing games! Try track lighting to liven a room by accenting artwork, or anything you may have on the walls.

Bathroom

The bathroom lighting is probably the last place which people want to invest a budget. As a result, the mirrors go unlit, and a dinky ceiling fixture is used to light up the sink, mirror, and shower. This is a trend that you can fix with your bathroom! So why not spend a little extra time considering which fixtures and lights would work well in this room? So my suggestion is to try a small recessed light. Try directing the light at a piece of decorative art work or mirror, creating this extra layer of lighting. Perhaps an angle a recessed shower light? This presents a great highlight to some fancy tilework and will make the shower fixtures shine with splendor.

Try Energy Efficient Bulbs

Energy bills can hurt the finances of a homeowner. One of the easiest ways to lower an electric bill is to install energy efficient lighting, thereby improving the environment while seeing a large reduction in monthly electric costs. The best part is that energy efficient lights last longer! For this reason, people like LED light bulbs as they last longer than traditional bulbs. In fact, an LED light bulb can last up to ten times longer than a standard bulb. Did you know that in an effort to help protect the environment, many cities and states are enacting laws to give consumers substantial discounts on both LED and CFL bulbs? With these discounts and tax breaks, many times the energy efficient light bulbs have a lower initial cost than traditional bulbs! When considering energy efficient lighting, one should thoroughly research all of the available government incentives. Going energy efficient is a no-brainer!
